RCI2002

We drove down to Ft. Lauderdale from Orlando. It was not a bad drive and we made good time until we tried to find a gas station near the airport. We found one and made it on to the ship by 3:30.


We boarded Royal Caribbean's Enchantment of the Seas with enough time to relax and then meet up with Patti's "e-mail friends" before the mandatory life boat drill. After the drill we met up in Jay & Kathie's suite for a little champagne and chatting for our own Bon Voyage party on their balcony. The second picture shows the Centrum (in the center of the ship no less:~o) that goes from deck 4 to the top of the ship. The next picture is the main pool and deck area. The last is the Solarium that has a retractable roof over a couple of spas, a pool and a sunbathing area.

Our first port was San Juan, Puerto Rico. We got in at about 2:00 p.m. We wandered down to old San Juan and checked out a few shops. We stopped at a small bar and got few drinks and sat at the tables outside. It began to sprinkle about 4:30 then it started coming down in buckets so we decided to head back to the ship. We didn't see much of the sights but we had fun. Little did we know that this was the beginning of our "bar tour".


Patti saw the pigeon park at the end of the street and just had to feed them (they sell food there). She no sooner had the food in her hands when she was swarmed by pigeons. It became like a scene from "The Birds". I finally had to wade in and part them so she could get out.
